WHAT WE BELIEVE (DOCTRINES AND THEOLOGY)

We are an Evangelical church.

As a church, we are committed to the historic Christian faith.

  • We believe that every one of us is a sinner in need of God's forgiveness, and that we are completely unable to save ourselves.

  • We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man, was born of a virgin, lived a perfect and sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners, and was raised to life three days later.

  • We believe that salvation can never be earned, but rather is a free gift of God given by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, and thus is our final authority in matters of faith and life.

  • We believe that our mission is to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) to make disciples by going into all the world proclaiming the gospel--that freedom from sin and guilt is found in Christ.

We are a Theologically Conservative church.

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America, we hold to the core tenets of the Protestant Reformation as summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith.  We believe that the distinctives of the historic Reformed faith reflect the teachings of Scripture.

More specifically, we believe:

  • That the Bible is the only inerrant and authoritative Word of God (sola Scriptura).

  • We are accepted by God through faith alone, apart from our works (sola fide).

  • Salvation is granted to sinners by God's sheer grace alone (sola gratia).

  • Jesus Christ is the only Savior of sinners, and the only mediator between God and man (solo Christo).

  • All glory belongs to God alone, who is our Creator and Redeemer (soli Deo gloria).

We are a Presbyterian church.

The word "presbyterian" comes from the Greek word for "elder" (presbyteros). A Presbyterian church is one that is led by a group of elders, rather than one single individual or the congregation at large.  As Presbyterians, we join together with other like-minded churches for accountability and partnership in ministry at the regional and national levels.
