Mercy Ministry

As a church we are committed to reaching the physical and spiritual needs of our community and the church around the world.. Some of the ways we currently seek to do this are listed below:

Barnabas Ministry

Deacon, Dwight Ballard chairs the Barnabas Ministry team.  Team members are stationed at the door each Sunday morning to greet the worshipers as they arrive on Sunday morning.  Visitors who come are given a "Welcome" brochure that is filled with information about our church.  The visitor is also given a card to fill out giving us their name, address, phone number and email address so that we may make further contact to welcome them to our church.  It is the duty of the committee to follow up with those visitors who indicate they are looking for a church.  Our goal is to make everyone, members and visitors alike, feel welcome to our work and worship.

Disaster Relief

Also headed by the Deacons, this ministry seeks to provide relief to neighboring communities, neighboring state and around the world who are seriously affected by disaster. If you have gifts in construction or are handy with a chain saw or other such equipment or are just interested in serving in this ministry effort, please call or email Mary Beth at the church office.

Smithville, Mississippi

They have groceries in storage and will work with any volunteers that want to come and work in there community. There is no PCA church in the area but other Churches will allow you to stay and work with them.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama

They have two PCA churches involved with Disaster Response, Riverwood and Trinity. Between the two they can take up to 40 volunteers combined. They have hot and cold showers but you will need to take bedrolls, work related equipment and be self sufficient. Unfortunately they are not taking volunteers, money, food or anything else at this time. Probably will be open for business in about 10-14 days. The Churches are volunteering their time working for the City and they are developing a "Needs Form Application". The Church families were spared from serious damage for the most part and they are now they are getting out in the Community and learning what their neighbors needs are. This is time consuming but necessary.

Leakesville, Mississippi

They have a PCA Church and an ARP church. They are going to be involved in rebuilding several homes from the foundation up. Many people did not have adequate insurance. The need will be heavy labor and specific crafts. i.e. plumbing, craftsmen, electricians, but this can be day trips if you want to volunteer.

Yazoo City, Vicksburg and Greenville, Mississippi

Maybe our next big problem to address. The Mississippi River is flooding now and not expected to crest until the 17th in New Orleans, around the 11th in Memphis. 1st and 2nd Presbyterian Churches or Yazoo City are gearing up for volunteers. They are going to need everything we needed after the Storm. Please get ready. We are going to be needed. Sand bags, volunteers, unskilled labor for several weeks before restoration crews are needed.

Short Term Missions

We are also involved in short term missions locally and around the world. The church has sent teams to Peru, West Virginia and is involved locally in the community. If you have any desire to be involved in Church missions projects please contact the church office to inquire what the church is planning.
