"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
The Children's Ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport strives to lay a firm, gospel-centered foundation that our children will be able to build upon for years to come. We strive to be intentional with our method and substance in teaching about Jesus, his teachings, and his love. We are a ministry for all children, working hand-in-hand with parents and guardians to teach God's Word.

Children begin their Sundays at 9:40 a.m. in the music room singing traditional hymns and songs of our faith. At 9:50 a.m., Sunday School begins. First Presbyterian Church uses The Gospel Project, published by Lifeway, which is a chronological study that highlights God’s plan of saving his people through Jesus from the very beginning of time.
Worship beings at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Children are encouraged to use the sermon resources provided on the Children’s Ministry Table located in the foyer.
Children in three-year preschool through kindergarten will be excused during the service for Wee Worship before the morning prayer. Wee Worship meets in the Wee Worship Room and uses Young Children and Worship Curriculum. This curriculum is Montessori based and is designed for all learning styles.
Fellowship Dinner: 5:30p.m.- 6:15p.m. Choir: 6:15p.m.- 6:45p.m. Bible Club: 6:45p.m.- 7:30p.m.
Wednesday night begins with our Fellowship Dinner in the gym at 5:30 p.m. Children are dismissed from dinner at 6:15 p.m. for choir. The Young Musicians Choir (grades K-5) meets in the sanctuary. The Melody Makers Choir (Preschool) meets in the Wee Worship Room. The Young Musicians Choir sings on several Sunday mornings throughout the year. Both choirs have two extra performances, one at Christmas and another at the end of the school year.
Bible Club begins at 6:45 p.m. During Bible Club, children will be reintroduced to their Sunday School lesson from The Gospel Project in a different way. This includes videos, music, activities, and games. They will also complete a journaling activity in order to respond to each week’s lesson. Sunday School and Bible Club fit together, but are also meant to stand alone in the event that a child cannot attend both.
In addition to our regular weekly activities, we have numerous special events throughout the year, including Camp Design, the Easter Egg Hunt, the Fall Fun Night, and the Charlie Brown Christmas Event. Follow our Facebook page for updates!
For your child's safety, all of our children's ministry workers and volunteers have been specially trained, screened, and have successfully completed a background check.
